Compress PDF guide

Reduce the size of scan-heavy PDFs by rebuilding pages as images. Decide whether an image-based document is suitable before starting.

Step by step

  1. 01

    Select your PDF

Note its original size and keep a backup, especially if you need selectable text or interactive content.

  2. 02

    Choose a quality level

Select low, medium or high. Lower quality prioritizes size; higher quality preserves more image detail.

  3. 03

    Compare the result

After processing, review the size comparison and download the result. Open it and check small text and diagrams.

Settings

Low / medium / high
The level changes rendering resolution and JPEG quality. Original page dimensions are retained.

Help and limitations

Will text remain selectable?

No. Every page is rasterized into a JPEG image. Searchable text, links and interactive fields are not retained as such.

Will the file always become smaller?

No. Some PDFs are already efficient; rebuilding them can increase size. Compare the displayed sizes before using the result.

Before you use the output

This is lossy, image-based compression, not a text-preserving optimizer. Keep the original for searching, copying text, accessibility and editable forms.
