Step by step
- 01
Select your PDF
The tool checks whether the file appears protected. An unprotected PDF does not need unlocking.
- 02
Enter the existing password
Use the document’s original password when required. For a file that opens without a password but has owner restrictions, a blank password may work.
- 03
Download and verify
Run unlocking, then open the downloaded copy to check that it no longer requests a password.
Settings
- Existing password
- The password is used in your browser to open the selected file. No password guessing or recovery mode is available.
Help and limitations
What if I do not know the password?
Ask the document owner for the password or an authorized unprotected copy.
Why did unlocking fail?
The password may be wrong or the PDF may be damaged or unsupported. Check the original file in your usual PDF reader.
Before you use the output
Only unlock documents you have permission to access. A successful download still needs to be checked in a PDF reader.
